The REDress and Monumental Quilt Projects

  • Two Rivers Gallery 1530 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55404 United States (map)

"Through this installation I hope to draw attention to the gendered and racialized nature of violent crimes against Aboriginal women and to evoke a presence through the marking of absence,"

The REDress Project was started by Metis artist Jamie Black in 2010. This project serves as a reminder of the missing and murdered Indigenous Women (#MMIW) and is supported through the community coming together to hang red dresses in public spaces in efforts to bring awareness to this ongoing epidemic.

In conjunction with the upcoming Super Bowl and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women's March happening on February 14, 2018 in Minneapolis, we invite community members to bring a red dress of their own to hang in the Two Rivers Gallery on the day of the march and throughout the duration of the exhibit. Community participation is vital to this exhibition and will help to raise awareness around the issues of human sex trafficking and MMIW.

The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women's March will take place from 11am - 2pm at the Minneapolis American Indian Center

Address: 1530 E Franklin Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55404
