Reclaiming Narrative,
Redefining Contemporary
The 1990s brought a renewed focus on Indigenous authorship and self-representation. Exhibitions from this decade challenged stereotypes while pushing the boundaries of what Indigenous contemporary art could be. Artists explored identity, urban Indigenous life, history, and futurity through bold visual language and cross-disciplinary practices.
Two Rivers Gallery continued to serve as a critical platform for artists responding to social change while shaping new narratives for Indigenous art in the region and beyond.
