POSITION: Curatorial Assistant

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
To assist the gallery in exposing local emerging Native artists by providing a space to exhibit work, nurture creativity and provide professional development. Two Rivers is an active space for the community to build relationships and to strengthen Native art and artistic voices within the Twin Cities. This position will be assisting in facilitating a collections move and helping to develop the gallery’s virtual exhibits platform.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred majors/minors in Native American Indian Studies, Museum Studies, Historic Preservation, Art History, Public History, Curatorial Studies, Studio Art with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and photography. Collections management and art handling experience is desired.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Art cataloging, registration, photographic documentation utilizing proper museum standards for art handling. Activities will include packing, moving and assisting with the storage and maintenance of collections and exhibitions. Performs routine maintenance of gallery and work to assist with special events. In addition to provide preparatory assistance and logistical support this role will include multitasking skills in direct relation to promoting programs, operations, conducting curatorial research, writing interpretive materials, exhibition text and labels.
